What is CCC's
Management Development Lab (MDL)?

Detailed Program Overview

The last few years have brought disruption, escalating employee burnout, and retention challenges. Mid-level managers are in a unique position to affect positive change, but they have a challenging role. We believe that managers who feel healthy, prepared, and empowered can result in happier people and better results.

Renew your commitment to your people and invest in your leaders with Management Development Lab.

MDL participants will develop capabilities to allow them to:
  • Lead themselves by remaining anchored in their purpose and authenticity
  • Lead others by nurturing healthy, productive and inclusive teams
  • Lead into the future by navigating uncertainty and complexity with courage and confidence

CCC recognizes that for management development to have the desired long-term impact, it needs to be experiential, practical and developmental. Knowing the pressures on the higher ed industry, we recognize it also needs to be cost and time efficient.

The key ingredients of the MDL experience include:
  • Building a learning community with a cohort of peers
  • Full group facilitated sessions and small participant-led learning group
  • Meaningful content and activities to practice using new skills and capabilities immediately back at work
  • 1:1 coaching session with CCC coach facilitator
  • Zoom based and low-cost
  • Equivalent time commitment of one week of work spread over 7-8 months

MDL is ideal for higher education professionals who:
  • Have 2-3 years of experience managing and leading staff
  • Are ready to engage in the self discovery that is critical to developing as a manager and leader
  • Are curious about learning with peers from across higher education

"The program was amazing, considering we went through it right when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Suddenly, goals changed in an instant. The "Planning Guide for Change" and "Guiding People Through Change" were particularly useful tools and continue to be. I'm not sure I'd be as well equipped if it hadn't been for [this program]. Perhaps the most impactful to me, though, were the Peer Coaching Triads. I was paired with two amazing professionals who I could confide in, and they in me, as we coached and listened to each other. What a great benefit to have at a very difficult time. I grew a lot during the program. And a shout out to Adam who is a fantastic listener and professional."
